Hello Everyone, well this is our brand new foal, Minnie Mo, named by our competition results. Snowy and Minnie are both doing so well. She is busy feeding from her mum, she is taking regular drinks of milk as they walk round the field. Snowy has a good appetite as she is constantly grazing. Snowy is letting us all play with her foal, Minnie is getting used to people being with her so later on she will be great.
The cost of keeping a foal has now risen once again as bills get bigger every year.. Please click button to make a donation, every penny does count no matter how small, please give what you can to help save this new mum and her lovely foal. Our team will be organizing a meet the Foal morning soon, watch the calendar for the date. Please check below to see if you can donate to our needy cause.
Snowy came into the sanctuary along with a cute miniature pony. Both were in a very poor state of health, being riddled with worms and lice. After calling our vet out to check them both we founds that Snowy was in the early stages of pregnancy.
It was estimated that Snowy was about 17 years and had been in foal before. It was found that she had laminitis, a common condition which eventually affects the soft tissue of the hoof making it difficult for her to walk. Snowy needed special care and monitoring.
A pony's pregnancy lasts approximately 11 months so the last month all the sanctuary were excitingly awaiting the birth. On the morning of May 8th there was the biggest surprise as we saw a foal in the field with proud Mum Snowy. Foal is so small just up to your knee.
The foal is really friendly and tries to sit on your lap. The next few months are going to be really interesting watching her grow and develop. It is wonderful to see her running about so full of life. We all thank you for sponsoring Minnie Mo. Click here to Sponsor.
